Hardware Hacker Club

Make: has an article in last month's issue and another online that talks about hacker work spaces, places where the members of a hacker club like the IPL can go to do their projects. This is something I'd love to do with this club, have a place for members to go work. Not everybody has space to work at home or the tools needed to do so. Since we've just started up this probably won't happen for awhile but if you've got a space, let us know. Please! :)

I'm working on setting up our first meeting. We have a good conference room at my work so the first one will probably be there and we can see if we want to go someplace else for the next one. I'll have more details soon and I'll be calling for people to do short presentations on projects they've worked on.

Make: Design Patterns for Starting a Hacker Space

EDIT: I just checked out Bre Pettis' (of Make:) new group NYC Resistor, a hacker group in New York City. They've just moved into their own space. I'll be keeping an eye on this, a space for us to work in keeps going up in my list of priorities.

Hey, I'm starting an Albuquerque hackerspace. http://quelab.net
Spread the word! We're gonna try to set up our first meeting in the next couple of weeks. Jump on the mailing list and let's figure this out.

Count me in for a bit of money, networking, and keeping an ear to the ground about this. I'm interested.
