New Mexico Amateur Radio Technical Society NM-ARTS is a similar group in Albuquerque. NM-ARTS has a Ham radio bent but overlaps in the area of micro-processors and general electronics.

Full Disclosure: I started ARTS and I hope folks don’t think I am trying to undermine this group. ARTS and IPL have different fundamental reasons for existing and I hope the two group’s offerings will be complementary. I have a link to IPL on the ARTS page. Please consider a link back.
