Idea Propulsion Lab

Hardware Hacker Club

Ok, I've scheduled Meeting 1 for April 2nd, at my work (New Mexico Mutual) here in Albuquerque. People can start coming into the office at 6pm and I figure we can start the meeting at 6:30pm.

The important things at this point is getting an approximate count of how many people might be coming to the meeting and getting a few people to give little presentations. Since this is the first meeting I think we should talk about Lab business and how people want the meetings to go but I also want to see some people talk about things they've done or are interested in.

Please post in this thread if you can give a little presentation. I'll post more details about where my office is, what kind of facility we have, etc. But for now, block out April 2nd for Meeting 1! And tell everybody you know to come, whether or not they're a member of the Lab yet.

DETAILS:
New Mexico Mutual is located at 3900 Singer Blvd. NE in Albuquerque. See this map for details on where the building is and where to park (very important!).

We have a big screen projector with a laptop hooked up to it so if you want to show some visual aids or a presentation, that's no problem. If you want to show something on the screen, you should probably get there a little early to make sure things work (if you don't practice, it won't work. It's the law)

If you have questions about the facility, post here so I can answer questions for everybody.

Sounds good. I'll be at the first meeting.

Well I'm certainly no public speaker. But as far as presentations as concerned if people are interested, I'd be happy to give an informal talk about the basics of how to connect a PC or microcontroller to things like lights or motors.

That would be awesome Ray. I'd love to see something like that. I don't think anybody is expecting anything professional, just people sharing ideas.

Hey... Sounds great, and I should be able to make it.

Don't have too much tech savvy myself, but I hope I can help find resources that will help the group out.

best,

I was logging in to report on my learnings on the Wiimote Whiteboard.... and noticed this.
Did I miss an announcement e-mail?

I have a weekly game that floats between Wed. and Thurs.
I'll see if we can go for Thurs. that week. Put my P{attendance}=.7

The twoth of April seems reasonable. You may not yet wish to reveal exactly where "work" is, but could you give us an approximate idea? It greatly simplifies planning.

We need to know how easy it will be to get a large flatbed close enough to unload . . . oh, wait! That's for a later meeting. Never mind. ;o)

Sounds sweet! I'm pretty sure I'll be there.

Will you have your Wiimote Whiteboard hooked up?
I can bring mine if you don't...

I can bring my light pen(s) and an IR camera or two if you do have your Wiimote Whiteboard running.
Working with IR LED's is a bit like flying by instruments. You have to tweak ballast just
by watching voltages and currents, since you can't see the light.

We have another conference room with a big flat-panel TV that I had used for my wiimote whiteboard. If you wanted to bring your stuff and setup in there, that would be awesome. Then we could all just go into that room for a demo.
